Herniated Disc
Or Ruptured disc
Usually misunderstood as “slipped disk”, a herniated disk occurs when the disc’s inner gelatin-like substance leaks/bulges through its outer-rubbery border. Herniated disks most often occur in the low back and less commonly in the neck.

Physical Therapy for Herniated Disk
The physical therapists at Vita will work with you to design a specific treatment program to speed up your recovery from a herniated disk.
Typically, the program will include the following:
• Pain reduction via mmodalities such as dry needling and kinesio taping.
• Strengthening exercises for muscles around the back/neck
• Postural retraining and movement pattern re-education, e.g. during lifting, pulling motions to reduce stress on the spine.
• Restoration of mobility, flexibility, and muscular endurance to minimize risk for re-injury
